That girl who seems to have it all. We all know at least one person like that. You might envy her hair, clothes, her job or all the things I just mentioned. But, I have come to realise that if you let that determine your own self worth you feel totally inadequate.
I propose a new way forward. Being selfish and focusing on yourself.
You are on your journey and someone else is on theirs.
Contrary to comparing myself to those doing better than me, I choose to celebrate and promote them and most importantly learn from them instead.
With this in mind this week I will be celebrating inspirational women in my life who I have interviewed for Aawaz.
First to feature is the beautiful Noreen Khan.
Why did I choose Noreen?
Noreen is on my list for a few reasons but first and foremost, I think Noreen is a hard worker. She does all of her own PR work and is constantly building her brand on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. She is good at what she does and she is dedicated. She has also branched out into other ares with a fashion line, Noreen Khan Couture, and more recently NK Accessories. The hard work never ends and that for me is inspiring.
Noreen tell us a bit about you…
I’m a radio DJ on BBC Asian Network, I host and compere events and I do a bit of telly now and again!
Noreen tell us what you are most proud of…
One of my successes that I’m most proud of is having the most listened to Asian radio show in the UK and another is setting up my own business when I was just 21!
What advice would you give 10 year old Noreen?
Firstly would be to enjoy being the tallest in your year group! When I was 10 the boys would pick on me and call me names because I was taller than them, but they caught up pretty quickly.
Secondly I’d say don’t worry if you don’t win every time, I was very competitive and would get upset if I didn’t win netball matches or get top marks in my times tables test!
For those reader who want to find out more about you where can they go?
I have a website: www.officialnoreenkhan.com
Or just follow me on twitter to see what I get up to!
Aawaz would like to thank Noreen for taking the time to be interviewed.
